The law of god and the church, not a child’s feelings.

Philip Boucher-Hayes

Almost literally the last thing Emily Logan did before leaving the Office of the Ombudsman was to send copies of a report (which it is not intended will ever be published) to the families of several children who have made allegations of sexual and physical abuse against teachers in their school. The nine children were all between the ages of 5 and 11 at the time of the alleged abuse which they claim was inficted on them at the hands of three female teachers.

I have seen that report, and people may be familiar with the allegations of the children from Justine McCarthy’s reporting of it in The Sunday Times. Emily Logan’s report finds that the HSE did not properly investigate the claims of the children even though they were numerous and in large part supported each other. It also finds the School’s board of management and the Department of Education…

(Speaker Continuing)

[Deputy Finian McGrath: Information on Finian McGrath Zoom on Finian McGrath] We must also learn, move on and build a more modern and inclusive police service. The stress should be on it being a policing service. The Guerin report is about reform, accountability and building a good policing service. That is what we in this House all want. That is the only way forward for all of the victims, gardaí and the wider community.” Nobody is excluded from that type of reform and accountability”?

People With Disabilities The Profoundly Deaf?

Chapter 19.33 reads: “It has sent out a message to the force that if you ignore your duty, are grossly negligent, hide and cover up, you will be deemed suitable for promotions.” That is a very important statement in the report. I talk to members of the Garda regularly. Family members serve in the force. They talk about the need for a meritocracy within the Garda Síochána. Once one gets above the rank of sergeant, promotion seems to be based on political decisions.?

It Might Be Legal….But its Not RIGHT!

THE CAUSES OF CRIME AND SECRECY?

The Dail’s spending watchdog has criticised the practice of gardai conducting internal reports into contentious issues in the aftermath of the penalty points debacle.  Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) John McGuinness said: “The day of internal reports or secret reports is over.”He made the comments at a meeting of the PAC this morning after another committee member, Shane Ross, described an internal report on the penalty points issue by Assistant Commissioner John O’Mahony as being “soft on the gardai”.Mr Ross said gardai should “never again” be able to do an internal report, suggesting serious issues should be the subject of outside scrutiny.Mr O’Mahony’s report found no evidence of corruption or deception, but recommended three senior members of the force face disciplinary proceedings. – See more at: http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/pac-member-internal-garda-penalty-points-report-was-soft-on-the-force?

Public Inquiry · Examining corruption in Ireland

Oconnellpadd13's Blog

Public Inquiry · Examining corruption in Ireland: “Why should I go on being an honest taxpayer, coughing up hard-earned money for more than 40 years of my working life, paying every cent (and pingin before the euro) in income tax and PRSI and VAT and Dirt and youth levies and health levies and all the other taxes and levies and deductions, and now this house tax and the water tax next, in order to pay for the mistakes of corrupt politicians, greedy bankers and golden circle who have scammed us since so-called “independence”? “
